ServiceMaster Recovery Services was founded in 1976 by Jim Cyganiak. Jim first ran the company out of his home with only the assistance of his wife, Bonnie, and three sons, Jim, Dave and Mark. It wasn’t until almost four years later in 1980 that Jim began to hire additional help

I worked here 6years day and night and had a great time working here for Mark and everyone. Every customer we had we treated with respect, and did everything and anything to make sure they were happy before we left. Very good on prices compared to other places, i will definitely miss this place. Great people work here.

Excellent job! Excellent team to work with!! I had a water line break during a washer installation on my main floor. Water poured onto floors, carpeting and was absorbed by the drywall. From the moment I talked to Barb and she sounded so competent and confident, I felt better. The team, within the hour, extracted water and put fans in, again with competence and confidence. Even more outstanding and unusual, when the each team came back to check dryness, they knew my story, had seen the pictures and knew what the previous team had done. They moved fans and dehumidifier to focus where it was needed. At the end, their water meter showed that everything was bone dry and they cleaned the carpet to prevent water marks. Very impressive!!! I highly recommend ServiceMaster Recovery Services.

Quick to respond and took the time to thoroughly inspect the damage. Called in experts to review whether flooring had to be removed, it didn't, and saved us over $7500 for not having to do something another company said we'd have to do. Definitely recommend using ServiceMaster.

Our sincerest thanks and gratitude for the excellent services provided by every person that walked into this house. We have never been through anything of this magnitude and all of them were kind, thoughtful and very professional. The owner, Mark, went above and beyond to make sure that each step of this process was done correctly; which it was. A very special thank you to Nathan and his crew for not only their hard work but for their kindness. So happy that our first instinct was to call ServiceMaster & be routed to the New Berlin Branch. Our sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you! (We have not rec'd photos yet so "this is our drive way!)

We were selling our house and had to dispose and clean everything out. They removed all items and then cleaned it thoroughly! The crew worked diligently and always asked if I wanted to throw a certain item away. I highly recommend their services! I enjoyed working with them.

I used the service for my basement cleanup after my sewage backup. The 1st crew didn't do a very thorough job but they sent a 2nd crew promptly when I notified them. Robert and Jayden did a very thorough job. This was a while ago - I just got time to post this review.

After experiencing flood damage in our finished basement, our insurance company contacted a local firm for mitigation since they were comfortable dealing with them. Unfortunately, the work was amateurish, leaving behind a lot of trash and unnecessarily ripping out the home's sound system (which I have not yet been able to restore). Also, when pulling an ice making refrigerator from its under counter setting, they broke a water line connected o the refrigerator. We had to shut off the water supply and we had to call in a plumber at our expense to fix the problem and restore the water supply.Three weeks went by without hearing anything further from that company so we decided to reach ServiceMaster Recovery Services. Checking back with the insurance, we were told that we could use our own contractor. Promptly, representatives showed up, took measurements and produced a restoration plan. We agreed to the estimate and restoration work began shortly thereafter.The old cabinets were replaced, new refrigerator installed, bathroom refinished, new carpeting and flooring completed. Their finishing carpenter spent several days making sure everything was done correctly. Wish I could get him to come back for some handyman projects.Suffice it to say, the ServiceMaster Recovery provided a fast restoration and we couldn't be more pleased with the results.Vyto & Diane Kapocius

Anyone that has had a sewer back up can relate to how stressful it is especially when it has damaged other areas of the house as well. Mark and his team, Wendy and Daniel were amazing! Responded right away, told me what to do and NOT do, and came the next morning and literally took care of everything! I would highly recommend Service Master.

Nate Osheim arrived promptly, explained the carpet cleaning procedures and completed the job in a timely manner. He helped us by moving a heavy table so that the kitchen was clear of furniture. When finished, he helped my husband move item back into place with little blocks underneath the legs to prevent varnish transfer or rust spots. He was very experienced, knowledgeable and courteous. We will have our carpets steam cleaned again by ServiceMaster because Nate did such a great, thorough job! Thank you so much!

We had a large oak tree fall on our house June 2020. Damage included replacing roof, windows, gutters, and inside ceiling. They worked with State Farm making the process seamless. They keep appointments, return calls, and provide necessary paperwork. Staff is great to work with! Would recommend them.

We noticed a flood in the basement at 7pm on a Friday after a rainstorm earlier in the week. It was very difficult to get a hold of any company to help. Mark responded to my call, walked me through the next steps to take, and we had our basement cleaned up and drying out by the employees that night. We are very appreciative for the responsiveness and quick actions the company took. All the equipment used was then removed days later and our basement was left in a condition ready for refinishing.

This Service Master crew was great to work with. They were super punctual and easy to communicate with in setting up the job. We're in Iowa and a huge walnut tree demolished the second story of our house and roof during the derecho. The Service Master crew came in and removed all the debris (ceiling tiles, roof beams, shingles, insulation, etc.) and cleaned up the floors and made sure there was no damage. Everything was spotless, which I was not expecting. This is making it a lot easier for the construction crews to get in and start repairing. I would definitely use them again (but am kinda hoping I don't have to).

May 2020We had water damage and mold due to our upstairs neighbor's hot water heater leaking slowly over a period of time and then finally totally draining itself dry. We were impressed with the professionalism and throughness of Service Master's team headed by Jim Clancy. My only issues were as follows: ¹ with the painter which was a personal preference issue. The painter chose to have Jim speak for him instead of allowing us to discuss things directly with him. This made it feel very uncomfortable when he was here ~ there felt like there was a cloud of distrust. He did however do a nice job. His lack of communication stood out in stark contrast to Jim's way of dealing with us. Jim was ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION!! And so to suddenly be working with someone who choose NOT to communicate was very difficult!!² My 2nd issue was with the flooring subcontractor that Jim brought to our home. Although we were already in negotiations with The Home Depot to have them install flooring, we felt obligated to use the services of Best Carpet. However, we felt that the owner Sam was very unprofessional. It still blows my mind that this business owner was not prepared to give us a receipt for money that we were required to pay up front. He chided us saying that he had been around us enough for us to know that he was trustworthy. The check that we wrote for half down was $3600.00. For our budget this was an enormous amount of money. To have it stolen would mean that we would be unable to complete our remodeling because we had no extra money to replace it with. For that very reason proof of payment (a receipt) was VITAL!!! And yet a week later we still had no receipt and my anxiety was on "high alert". Finally I wrote a strong email, which enabled us to finally get an invoice/receipt. This was only one of the many issues that we had with Best Carpet ~ all of which have made us conclude that we will NEVER use their services ever again, nor will we recommend them.Service Master, on the other hand, was an exceptional company to work with!! However, even so it seems that when Service Master links themselves with a company displaying these types of serious issues they are taking on a huge risk of damaging their own professional reputation.8.26.2020I am writing this update along with lowering my rating of the business a few months after I initially posted. Out of the blue I received an email from Service Master Recovery Services with an invoice attached for less than $100 that they said was past due. I had been notified of this invoice once before, two months prior and told by Jim Clancy that I was not responsible for it. I believed him and went along my merry way. The charges were from the water clean up phase, which was billed to and directly paid for by our home owner’s insurance company. We never saw the charges, and we were not aware of the amount paid by our insurance company. And so I sent an email reply stating that I would need to check with our insurance adjustor about this invoice. Almost immediately I received a voice message from the owner of this company demanding payment or else they would pursue legal action against me.To say that I was totally rattled is an understatement. I am NOT a person who does not pay my bills. To make a long story short, when I finally was able to reach my adjustor, he went in to high gear and within a very short time called me back to say not to worry, that I was not responsible for the charges and that Service Master Recover Services knew this but had failed to zero out the balance. In my mind after receiving the strong phone call, it only seems logical that I would receive an “Oops, we are sorry, we made a mistake” email or phone call. But no, I received nothing ~ and so decided to request to be notified in writing that the account has a zero balance, and that my credit has not been impacted. After some time I received an email to this effect.At this point I honestly do not know if I would use this company’s services again. IF you do... make sure that you keep excellent records!

We’ve used Service Master’s residential cleaning services in the past four duct cleaning, upholstery, and carpet cleaning and have always been happy with the services provided and the end result. Recently we had a water event that flooded our bathroom, bedroom, and finished basement, so it was a given we call Service Master. They again were very prompt, knowledgeable, and professional; from the project manager who assessed our damage to the technicians who came into our home. Another aspect I really appreciate is how kind everyone is; they all really seem to not only take pride in what they do, but also really care about helping their clients recover from an incident. We’d recommend them in a heartbeat!

Our church has used numerous vendors to help maintain our facilities (church and two parsonage houses) but there is non better than ServiceMaster. Just had Ron Shattuck come clean the carpets at both of our parsonages. He was on time, got the work done in less than 2 hours and the carpets are amazingly clean! I am so pleased that we will continue to use ServiceMaster for all of our major cleaning projects.

Joel was very prompt & flexible in scheduling a service visit to address some water damage and mold in our summer cottage. Service Master Restoration to the Rescue! My elderly mother had a sump pump failure during heavy rains in September. SM came immediately and managed the entire project from start to finish. They handled all the subcontractors and scheduled everything through me so my mother didn’t need to worry. All of their subcontractors were as professional and thorough as the SM crew and they also assisted with getting insurance to understand and pay the claim.Thank you for everything! I highly recommend this company to anyone in need!
